Signature Dining Recognition Program

This document outlines the criteria for restaurants to be recognized as Signature Dining in the Haliburton Highlands by MyHaliburtonHighlands.com (MHH). This program is free of charge and highlights establishments that provide exceptional food experiences, outstanding service, and a strong connection to the region’s culinary identity. Signature Dining locations can use the Signature Ding branding and may be featured in promotional campaigns, advertising, and regional marketing materials.

Eligibility Criteria: Core Requirements

Property Type and Experience: 

  • Eligible establishments include restaurants that offer a dine-in experience and consistent service.
  • Takeout-only operations or food vendors without a regular dining experience are not eligible.
  • Restaurants should operate on a regular and consistent basis throughout the year (seasonal operations will be considered where appropriate but must demonstrate reliability and clear operating schedules).
  • Restaurants should offer, where possible, the ability for guests to make reservations online or through a digital platform, supporting ease of planning for visitors.
  • Businesses are expected to demonstrate operational stability and a consistent track record of service and quality, typically reflected through at least one (1) year of operation.

Automatic Qualification: 

Properties meeting the following criteria are fast-tracked for consideration:

Additional certifications or recognitions may be considered at the discretion of the review committee.

Food Quality and Guest Experience Standards: 

  • High ratings and consistent positive reviews across platforms (average 4.5 or more)
  • Demonstrated excellence in food quality, presentation, and service.
  • A welcoming and well-maintained dining environment.

Signature Experience Factor: 

Restaurants must provide a distinctive Haliburton Highlands dining experience, such as:

  • Use of local or seasonal ingredients
  • Connection to local farms, producers, or suppliers
  • Unique or memorable dining atmosphere (e.g., lakeside, rustic, chef-driven)
  • Menus or offerings that reflect the character and creativity of the region

 

Marketing and Branding Alignment: 

  • Restaurants must align with MHH branding and storytelling, showcasing the flavours, people, and experiences of the Haliburton Highlands.
  • Participation in marketing campaigns, social media, and promotional materials may be requested.

Application Process: 

Submission: 

  • Restaurant owners or managers must request by email for inclusion, along with High-quality images, website details, and an explanation on how their property algins with the eligibility criteria as listed above. info@myhaliburtonhighlands.com 
  • There is no cost to apply or participate in the Signature Dining program.

Review: 

  • Applications will be reviewed by a designated committee within the MyHaliburtonHighlands.com team to ensure all criteria are met. 

Approval: 

Restaurants recognized as a Signature Dining will receive:

  • Permission to use the Signature Dining branding.
  • May be considered for inclusion in promotional campaigns, advertising, and regional marketing initiatives.

Restaurants that do not meet the criteria will be provided with feedback and may reapply once the necessary improvements are made. 

Ongoing Compliance: 

  • Signature Dining locations will be subject to periodic review to ensure standards and experiences remain exceptional.
  • Establishments that no longer meet program standards may lose recognition and branding privileges.
