Join local songwriters Tanya Nye, Samara Johnson, and Eric Casper for an intimate evening of original music and storytelling. Each artist will perform selections from their catalogue, share the inspiration and stories behind their songs, and answer questions from the audience. Discover how personal experiences, local landscapes, and everyday moments are transformed into music in this engaging and interactive celebration of songwriting.

Classic Tunes from Ancient Dudes

Former lead vocalist and bassist of the iconic Canadian country roots band Prairie Oyster, Russell deCarle is no stranger to awards and accolades — his “Oyster years” were rewarded with six Juno Awards and more than a dozen Canadian Country Music Awards. His warm, burnished voice is perfect for an intimate concert with his mix of southern soul, jazz, blues, old-school country, and western swing. Russell and his trio sold out their show last year at the Dominion.

Double Canadian magic champion, Marc Trudel is coming to Haliburton! Join us for magic tricks to amaze you, music to make you dance and jokes to make you laugh! Magic workshop to follow.

Magic workshop following the show. Spaces are limited. Be sure to get your free tickets online for show and workshop. Workshop is suitable for kids ages 8 and up.

Bring your guitar, keyboard, cello or whatever and share a song.

The music of the Caribbean is known for its clever lyricism, its soaring melodies, and its unfailing grooviness. Join Kobo Town founder Drew Gonsalves in this workshop to learn about the history of calypso, and learn and play some traditional calypso tunes. Singers and instrumentalists (of any level!) are welcome. With his trademark humour, wit and storytelling, Drew will introduce you to the rhythms, melodies, and lyrical forms of this captivating music.

Founded and fronted by émigré Trinidadian songwriter Drew Gonsalves, Kobo Town’s music has been variously described as “an intoxicating blend of lilting calypsonian wit, dancehall reggae and trombone-heavy brass” (Guardian) and a “unique, transnational composite of rhythm, poetry and activist journalism.”(Exclaim!) From their home in Toronto, the JUNO-nominated group has brought their distinct calypso-inspired sound to audiences across the world, from Port-of-Spain to Paris and from Montreal to Malaysia.

Morgan Davis is a Canadian blues singer, guitarist, and songwriter. He was born and spent his childhood in Detroit, Michigan, before relocating to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia, in 2001. His song “Why’d You Lie” was a hit for Colin James and featured on James’ 1988 debut album.

York Street Thought Process is a charming folk duo made up of Jaron Camp & Rachael Frankruyter. The duo has captured the hearts of audiences across Canada with their playful approach to folk music, blending strong storytelling with improvisation.

Donald Amero is a Canadian country and folk singer-songwriter from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Prior to launching his career as a musician, Amero worked as a hardwood flooring installer, and unsuccessfully tried out for Canadian Idol in 2006

Janie Rothfield and Allan Carr are a married, award-winning musical duo who have been performing, recording, and teaching their unique fusion of American Old-Time and traditional Scottish Celtic music for over 40 years

Michael Jerome Browne is a Canadian blues singer and guitarist, most noted as a multiple Juno Award nominee. Born in South Bend, Indiana, he moved to Montreal, Quebec, in childhood with his family, and began playing shows as a blues guitarist in his teens.
