Come join us in experiencing a short concert of new musical works by our 2026 Canadian Composer-in-Residence, never before performed in public. Meet the composer and have a chance to learn about his inspiration and creative process.

The Dockside Patio brings summer in the Haliburton Highlands to life. Open from late June through Labour Day, this laid-back waterfront spot welcomes guests staying on site as well as visitors arriving by car, boat, jet ski, or even seaplane.

Don Pasquale – Gaetano Donizetti

One of the zaniest and most loved of all Donizetti’s operas, this three-act comic opera follows the fortunes of young Ernesto, recently disinherited by his wealthy, cranky uncle, Don Pasquale, for refusing an arranged marriage in favour of the penniless widow Norina. A hilarious sit-com for all ages. Find out if love wins in the end!

Join local songwriters Tanya Nye, Samara Johnson, and Eric Casper for an intimate evening of original music and storytelling. Each artist will perform selections from their catalogue, share the inspiration and stories behind their songs, and answer questions from the audience. Discover how personal experiences, local landscapes, and everyday moments are transformed into music in this engaging and interactive celebration of songwriting.

Classic Tunes from Ancient Dudes

Former lead vocalist and bassist of the iconic Canadian country roots band Prairie Oyster, Russell deCarle is no stranger to awards and accolades — his “Oyster years” were rewarded with six Juno Awards and more than a dozen Canadian Country Music Awards. His warm, burnished voice is perfect for an intimate concert with his mix of southern soul, jazz, blues, old-school country, and western swing. Russell and his trio sold out their show last year at the Dominion.

The music of the Caribbean is known for its clever lyricism, its soaring melodies, and its unfailing grooviness. Join Kobo Town founder Drew Gonsalves in this workshop to learn about the history of calypso, and learn and play some traditional calypso tunes. Singers and instrumentalists (of any level!) are welcome. With his trademark humour, wit and storytelling, Drew will introduce you to the rhythms, melodies, and lyrical forms of this captivating music.

Founded and fronted by émigré Trinidadian songwriter Drew Gonsalves, Kobo Town’s music has been variously described as “an intoxicating blend of lilting calypsonian wit, dancehall reggae and trombone-heavy brass” (Guardian) and a “unique, transnational composite of rhythm, poetry and activist journalism.”(Exclaim!) From their home in Toronto, the JUNO-nominated group has brought their distinct calypso-inspired sound to audiences across the world, from Port-of-Spain to Paris and from Montreal to Malaysia.
