Event Details
Muskoka’s only Van Halen tribute show is hitting the stage in 2024. VAN HALEN ONE presents the music of the first incarnation of the band. The David Lee Roth Era. The show focuses on the band’s first album, sometimes referred to as Van Halen 1, performing songs like Running with the Devil, Eruption, and Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love. The remainder of the show presents hits from the rest of that first era of Van Halen. From Van Halen II’s Beautiful Girls to 1984’s Panama, and Jump.
VAN HALEN ONE is not a Clone show with musicians pretending to be Van Halen. Instead, this is a tribute show of solid musicians delivering the music of Van Halen as it should be. With intensity and exuberance. With two guitar players in the band, you will hear the songs performed live, that will include second guitar parts only ever heard on the original recordings.
Mike McAvan, as the show’s primary guitar player does all of the heavy lifting for the show, taking on the riffs, licks, and solos of the heroic Eddie Van Halen. Sean Cotton plays the front man role with originality, and integrity, not as a clownish imitation of the Van Halen’s singer Diamond Dave, but more as a vocal master of ceremonies. He’ll also double on second guitar when the music requires it. Rob Almond holds the arrangements together on bass guitar and with the iconic alto background vocals of VH’s Michael Anthony. Jeff Martin double kicks his way through the show on drums.

Christina Hutt presents the classic songs of Patsy Cline with a refreshing twist. As Patsy Cline, Christina brings the original era of the music to life. Engaging the audience with intimate reflections of lost love and those who have passed on, the haunting beauty that is the music of Patsy Cline is resurrected with the help of a five-piece band. The band reflects the radio house bands of old, acting as musical hosts and ghosts from the past. Sean Cotton on lead and background vocals, and guitar; George Axon on second guitar; Brad Smith on piano; Mike Phillips on bass and background vocals; Rich Brown on drums and background vocals insert classic instrumental songs of the era such as Rebel Rouser, Pipeline, and Apache offering a broader context to the music of Patsy Cline. With these spirits in the band Christina is able to evoke the Spirit of Patsy Cline. More info about Christina click here

Tickets: $15/person
Canadians often ask how did we manage to secure so much territory?
At the middle of the 19th century, as fathers of a Canadian Confederation attempted to cobble together a nation of four English- and French-speaking settlements in the eastern half of North America, the rest of what would eventually become the Canadian West sat apparently untamed and available. What defence was there against Fenian incursions? How could Hudson’s Bay Co. trading posts deflect American expansionism? What force could hope to out-flank U.S. Civil War armies just across the undefended border?
Steamboats, that’s what! Or, as aboriginal people called them “fire canoes.” In his book, Fire Canoe, historian Ted Barris brings the first-hand accounts of captains, stevedores, engineers, firemen, immigrants, soldiers and carpetbaggers who travelled the inland waterways of the prairies between 1859 and the turn of the century. The tales of their sudden arrival, the exploits of the people they carried, the impact of their regularly scheduled trips on waterways across the prairies, all come alive in this book.
Ted Barris is an award-winning journalist, author, and broadcaster. He regularly writes in the national media (National Post, Air Force magazine, Zoomer among many), and has hosted many CBC Radio network programs and shows on TV Ontario. His weekly blog The Barris Beat features commentary and narrative from his travels/experience. He has now published 20 non-fiction books, half of them wartime histories. His book The Great Escape: A Canadian Story won the 2014 Libris Award as Best Non-Fiction Book in Canada. His book Dam Busters: Canadian Airmen and the Secret Raid Against Nazi Germany received the 2019 NORAD Trophy from the RCAF Association. And his book Rush to Danger: Medics in the Line of Fire was listed for the 2020 Charles Taylor Prize for Non-Fiction in Canada. Battle of the Atlantic: Gauntlet to Victory is Ted’s 20th published non-fiction book. Meanwhile, as 2022 ended, Ted received news that he’d been appointed Member of the Order of Canada.

The Company that produced the critically successful shows of Acoustic Floyd and Acoustic Zeppelin, presents Muskoka’s only Fleetwood Mac show, ACOUSTIC FLEETWOOD MAC! From the Blues origins of the band’s 60s era led by Peter Green, to the era that took the world by storm in the 70s and 80s with its additions of Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, ACOUSTIC FLEETWOOD MAC delivers acoustic remixes of the groups biggest hits, as well as an entire performance of the legendary album Rumours. Two female vocalists and one male vocalist deliver the three-part harmony vocals that we have known to love from Nicks, McVie, and Buckingham. Acoustic Fleetwood Mac’s two guitar players deliver the great guitar work of both Lindsay Buckingham and the late great Peter Green.
The music is executed by Sean Cotton on 6 and 12 string acoustic guitar, foot percussion, and lead vocals; Tamica Herod on lead vocals and hand percussion; Liz Anderson on lead vocals and hand percussion; George Axon on acoustic and electric guitars; Mike Phillips on bass guitar.

Acoustic Floyd is Muskoka’s only Pink Floyd show. A textured take on the Floyd’s catalogue that reflects some of the music’s seldom thought of attributes. David Gilmour’s lapsteel that slides across a lot of the band’s records. The ever featured female background vocals reminiscent of gospel choirs. The solo saxophone that wails as much as Gilmour’s guitar. Then there’s the acoustic guitar playing singer/songwriter that is Roger Waters, and the early years with Syd Barrett. Acoustic Floyd presents a beautiful twist on the twistedly beautiful music of Pink Floyd.
The band features Sean Cotton on acoustic guitar, lead vocals, and foot drumming; Tamica Herod and Liz Anderson on lead/backing vocals, and percussion; George Axon on lapsteel and guitars, Chris Hess on saxophones, clarinet, bass, and lead/backing vocals; Mike “Lopez” Phillip’s on bass guitar, and accordion.

The Company that brought the sold-out shows of Acoustic Floyd and Acoustic Fleetwood Mac to Hollow Valley Resort, presents Muskoka’s only Led Zeppelin show, ACOUSTIC ZEPPELIN!
From Blues and Old English Folk music influences to Moroccan and Middle Eastern beats and melodies, ACOUSTIC ZEPPELIN is a musical journey around the acoustic world of Zeppelin. Featuring the mandolin, 12 string acoustic guitar, violin and fiddle, along with layered 6 string acoustic and electric guitars, and the signature thunder of John Bonham’s drums, the show presents the Zeppelin songs as they were performed on record and on stage. These instruments are also used to retexture some of Zeppelin’s classic “electric” songs, shape shifting them into the acoustic realm. Two vocalists sing in tandem to deliver this diverse range of material, also bringing to life the recorded harmony vocal performances that were rarely recreated on stage.
The music is executed by Sean Cotton on acoustic guitar, and lead vocals; Tamica Herod on lead vocals; George Axon on 6 and 12 string acoustic guitars, electric guitar, and mandolin; Wayne Ferguson on fiddle and mandolin; Mike Phillips on bass guitar; Rich Howard on drums

Enjoy the power of the collective voice! A large group of people, many meeting for the first time just four days prior to becoming part of this choral group, will raise their voices together in song. It’s extraordinary. Emily McPherson’s passion for performance and music motivates her singers and energizes large spaces! You’ll witness and hear, but most of all you’ll feel, the remarkable phenomenon of the collective voice.

Marcus Thompson is an emerging Canadian jazz soloist. The young trumpet player was born and raised in Toronto. Both of his parents were public school music teachers and had Marcus playing violin before he could talk. He later switched to trumpet like his father. His soft sounds are reminiscent of jazz legends Chet Baker and Miles Davis while flying around standards like the great Freddie Hubbard. He will be supported on guitar by Nicholas Russell.
