Description:
March’s full Moon goes by the name Worm Moon. For many years, we thought this name referred to the earthworms that appear as the soil warms in spring. This invites robins and other birds to feed—a true sign of spring! However, more research revealed. another explanation. Come hiking to find out! (Do NOT google it!).

There is nothing else like it! Hiking in a hushed, snow-covered forest under the magical light of a full moon is pure magic. To put it into words is to deny experiencing it firsthand. In ancient cultures, the moon has always held special symbolism representing feminine energy, meditative states, and immortality. For you, it might just be a special way of communing with nature.

Regardless of its significance, many people find the effect of hiking in the moonlight creates a more focused and contemplative experience since you have to be extra attentive to where you place your feet.

Special Notes:
The trail may be packed down or bare/icy in which case you will need icers/cleats OR snow-covered in which case you will need your snowshoes.  BRING BOTH as well as your hiking poles and water and a snack.  Dress for the cold by layering up. Bring a flashlight or headlamp (as a backup if the moon is not lighting the way).

Sorry, no dogs.
