Event Details

What do rocks have to do with your canoe trip? EVERYTHING!! Canada boasts more lakes than the rest of the world combined, largely as a result of our country’s geological history. Join us to gain a deeper understanding of the where and the why of the diverse paddling opportunities and scenic landscapes that we have come to enjoy.

Join geologist John Etches and photographer Rob Stimpson to discover the art and science of canoe routes. John will show you how geology has shaped the nature of our favourite canoeing areas such as Killarney, Georgian Bay, Kawarthas and the Haliburton Highlands. Rob’s presentation, Paddling into the Canadian Shield, will celebrate the beauty of canoe routes.
