MAD, the American humour magazine, played a major role in shaping Daniel as a mad-identifying creator, particularly through the publication’s work with mash-ups The mash-up as tool, practice, and ethos has sustained and inspired him as an artist, playing a fundamental role in his development s a writer, filmmaker, and teacher In this talk, Daniel will draw on Mad Magazine to discuss his understanding of mash-ups, share a range of sample works, and provide prompts for others to make the mashup a part of their creative practice.
