Event Details
The Minden Hills Cultural Centre is hosting a free documentary screening of Speakers for the Dead (2000), a National Film Board of Canada film that explores a largely forgotten chapter of Black history in rural Ontario, focusing on the deliberate burial of gravestones from a historic Black cemetery in Priceville in the 1930s and the efforts decades later to restore it.
Through excavation footage, interviews, and re-enactments, the film examines how racism and silence shaped local memory and the emotional process of reclaiming erased history; the event is presented in partnership with the Haliburton County Public Library, Minden Branch, and is open to all ages.

(Thursday) 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
