Those Other Movies will be kicking off the 2024/25 movie season in Haliburton with our first film of the season Wicked Little Letters, on September 12 with showings at 4:15 and 7:15 pm at the Northern Lights Performing Arts Pavillion.
Wicked Little Letters is a light-hearted start to the season with a stranger-than-fiction true story from a 1920’s English seaside town. It is a riotous mystery/comedy starring Jessie Buckley, Olivia Colman and Timothy Spall. There is some colourful language as residents in this small town begin to receive wicked letters full of unintentionally hilarious profanities.
Be careful what you post – underneath the comedic presentation, the movie will prompt thinking about the roles of women, what has changed and what has not, and the dangers of making assumptions. The film features a “woman police officer”. Britain’s first women police constables were employed in 1915, doing “men’s work” during the first World War and continued in those roles from that point forward.
showings at 4:15 and 7:15 pm at the Northern Lights Performing Arts Pavillion.
