Suzie probably needs little introduction to folks in Haliburton. She has made many appearances here.
Originally from Saskatoon and now based in Ontario’s Niagara Region, Suzie Vinnick boasts a powerful voice, impressive guitar and bass skills, and a candid, captivating stage presence. A 2024 Canadian Folk Music Award winner for Contemporary Singer of the Year, she also earned a 2024 ECMA for Blues Album of the Year with her trio A’Court, Spiegel & Vinnick. With 12 Maple Blues Awards, 2 Canadian Folk Music Awards, and 3 Juno nominations, Suzie’s career is filled with accolades. She has toured with Downchild, Stuart McLean’s The Vinyl Café, and Blackie & the Rodeo Kings. Her latest album is Fall Back Home.

Derek Seguin is one of the most sought after stand-up comedians on the international circuit. He has performed at the prestigious invitation-only Just For Laughs festival an impressive 11 times as well as appearing numerous times at every other major festival in the country, making several television appearances along the way.

At a past Just for Laughs festival, GQ Magazine’s Comedy Editor reported about JFL that: “Montreal-comic Derek Seguin stole one of the most star-studded gala shows last year”.

Join us in a discussion with Dr. Kari Kreough, co-founder of EcoWisdom Forest Preserve, a community-based initiative that uses mindful nature connection to promote holistic mind-body-soul wellbeing.  Kari will briefly review the forest medicine research showing the mindful nature connection (forest bathing/shinrin yoku) improves physical, emotional and cognitive function, and will guide participants in practices to support their own wellbeing. This is part of a continuing series on “Making our Communities Better Places”, and will be opened with music by the Porter Brothers–George and Steve.
